Kate Beckinsale and ex Matt Rife reconnected at the afterparty for Golden Globes 2025 — but it didn’t lead to more than a quick conversation.
“They’re friendly exes, talking and laughing, having a good time,” a rep for Beckinsale, 51, said. My Weekly after the awards ceremony on Sunday, January 5.
On Monday, January 6, rumors swirled that the duo, who briefly dated in 2017, were spotted kissing Golden Globe Afterpartybut Beckinsale’s rep notes that “didn’t happen.”
Beckinsale and Rife, 29, both attended the Netflix party at Spag in Beverly Hills. The Underworld the actress later stopped by a party at Chateau Marmont where she was spotted posing Paris Jackson and Gentlemen star Harry Goodwins.

Beckinsale and Rife dated for a year after joining in 2017. After their breakup, the actress sparked a romance between them Pete Davidson in 2019. At the time, Rife made headlines when he told Davidson, 31, that he should “run away” and described his relationship with Beckinsale as “complicated.”
“Enjoy it while you can. I hope they’re both happy, I hope it builds to where it’s established, a good relationship,” Rife told TMZ in March 2019. “I wish them both the best. I hope that they’re happy. I don’t really have any solid advice, just be careful.”
Years later, Rife admitted as much he regretted his comments about Beckinsale.
“I gave this advice because I was only speaking from my own experience, because I was together and found that we were not the most compatible partner,” he said. Elle in September 2023. “I wanted to make sure they were both careful with their emotions and didn’t go into something they wouldn’t do that wouldn’t work.”

He also publicly apologized to both Davidson and Beckinsale, saying he was a “little bit of a snitch” in the situation.
“I regret saying that. Pete, if you’re out there, I’m sorry I said it. Kate, I’m sorry I said it too. I shouldn’t have said it,” he said. “I gave advice to be careful because I just got out of a relationship with someone (where) and unfortunately I found out that we’re not compatible. And I always want people to, you know, protect their emotions and their personal feelings.”
Before her fling with Rif and Davidson, Beckinsale was married Len Wisemanwhom she married in 2004. The couple separated in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2019.
Beckinsale previously dated Michael Sheen from 1995 to 2003. The former couple share a daughter, Lily Mo, 25.
