Kailyn Lowry after her recent decision to undergo plastic surgery, she really began to struggle with her mental health and body dysmorphia.
“I had a very, very emotional morning, especially when I was in the shower. I pray that my children never struggle with their body image so much that they mutilate their bodies to be thin,” Teen Mom 2 alum, 32, said on Get Ready With Me Instagram Reel uploaded on Monday, January 6th. “I think a little bit of tweaking when it comes to a nose job or a breast job is fine, but going through that to be thin is really (a) mental illness. And I say that with the utmost respect for anyone who goes through this.”
Last month, Lowry revealed that she underwent breast reduction surgery. In Monday’s clip, she explained that her video marked the first time she was able to wear makeup since the procedure. She also shared that she was “finally able” to use the shower without any help after the surgery. While Lowry admitted that she feels “fine” physically, she “struggles” mentally most of the time after the procedure.
“I’m fighting this time. I don’t know if it’s because I have a daughter now… not just my daughter, but my sons, I don’t want them to experience that level of body dysmorphia,” she reflected. “Like, basically, I was willing to go to any length to do this. over the Christmas holidays being thin – even if it means (fiancé) Elias (Scott) couldn’t be there for me. Even if it meant I was in a different state for Christmas. I was willing to go to a hell of a lot for it.”
Lowry admitted that when she had breast reduction surgery, she was tempted to do it additional procedures under general anesthesia.
“I was going to have a breast reduction and then I was like, ‘Oh, I should add some lipo 360, add some tummy tucks…my scars were fine,'” she recalled. “My old belly scar and c-section scar were fine. I realized that I shouldn’t have put Elias through all this because he couldn’t be there for me all the time.”
Despite being on the mend, Lowry admitted she was having a “rough” period mentally but wanted to put on a brave face.
“I’m going to stop crying and suck it up for the rest of the day,” she said before issuing a warning to her followers. “Think once, think twice before you get plastic surgery and I hope everyone has a happy new year.”
Many of Lowry’s fans flocked to the comments section to give her some much-needed words of encouragement.
“You always looked great! You are just a beautiful woman at any size😍,” one user replied, while another wrote: “You literally gave birth to 7 beautiful little people, your body is incredible. I’m sorry you felt pressured to fix it. I hope you can learn to love your body, I know your kids loved it 🤍.”
Lowry is a mother of seven children. She shares a son, Issac, whom she welcomed in 2010 Joe Riverason Lincoln, whom she welcomed in 2013 Javi Marroquinsons Lux and Creed, whom she welcomed in 2017 and 2020, respectively, p Chris Lopez. She also shares son Rio, born in 2022, and twins Verse and Valley, who arrived in January, with Elijah.
