Sam Altman’s family is responding to a lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted his sister

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Tuesday responded to allegations of sexual harassment by his estranged younger sister, calling the allegations “absolutely untrue.”

According to the Saint Louis Post Dispatch, a new claim Annie Altman, who pleaded guilty Monday, alleged that her older brother sexually assaulted her over a nine-year period in the 1990s and 2000s. The suit resonates Annie’s earlier claims on social media in 2021.

Sam Altman admitted the claim Type in X responded on Tuesday with a statement from his brothers Max and Jack, as well as his mother Connie.

The Altman family claims the allegation is false. They write that Annie has been struggling with mental health issues for several years and they are concerned for her welfare. The Altmans say they tried to help Annie in many ways, including financially supporting her for several years.

The Altman family wrote in a statement:

Despite this, Annie continues to charge us more. In this sense, Annie has made deeply hurtful and completely untrue claims about our family, and Sam in particular. We chose not to respond publicly out of respect for his privacy and privacy. However, he has now taken legal action against Sam and we feel we have no choice but to settle this.

Over the years she has accused members of our family of improperly withholding our father’s 401k funds, hacking his wifi, and using him on ChatGPT, Twitter, etc. The worst claim she has made is that she was sexually abused by Sam as a child (she also claims sexual abuse from others did). His claims have evolved dramatically over time. New to this claim, it now includes claims relating to events where Sam is over 18 years of age.

According to A, Sam Altman has long been estranged from his sister 2023 profile of OpenAI CEO in New York Magazine. Although Altman often talks about his brothers, who are tech entrepreneurs and investors, he rarely mentions his sister publicly. At one point, according to a New York Magazine profile, Annie asked him to rebroadcast her podcast, which Sam declined. The piece also noted that Altman repeatedly tried to offer Annie money, gifts, and even bought her a house.

The profile piece echoes some of the concerns about Annie’s mental health, which Altman described in his response to the accusations on Tuesday. It describes Annie as having an unstable personal life, noting that she once moved 20 times in a year. The death of their father Jerry in 2018 marked a turning point for Annie’s mental health.
