Sunny Feasthusband, Emmanuel “Manny” Hostinwas named in an insurance fraud lawsuit filed in New York.
According to legal documents he obtained Daily Mail and viewed by the user My Weekly on Tuesday, January 7, Emmanuel, who married View cohost in 1998, is one of nearly 200 defendants included in the lawsuit filed in the Eastern District Court of New York on December 17, 2024.
An orthopedic surgeon based at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West hospitals in New York is listed as “Emmanuel Hostin, MD,” for US Healthis charged with federal insurance fraud and “obtaining kickbacks by performing surgery and … billing the company that insured the taxi companies and Uber and Lyft drivers,” according to Daily Mail.
Our asked representatives of Sunny and Emmanuel for a statement.
The lawsuit reads: “Hostyn knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other health services, including arthroscopic surgery.” The documents also allege that American Transit’s insurance company was then billed “in exchange for commissions and/or other compensation that was disguised as dividends or other cash distributions.”
Emmanuel addressed the allegations through his legal representative Daniel John Thwaitesand told the paper that his client “denies every allegation”. Thwaites added that the lawsuit is “a baseless, frivolous lawsuit by a near-bankrupt insurance carrier.”
Thwaites further offered, “It is intended to intimidate and harass physicians from charging for care provided to American Transit policyholders and their passengers. American Transit rushed into the lawsuit without ever examining Dr. Hostin or expressing any concerns to his lawyers. The real story is about an insurance carrier abusing the legal system to limit and limit health care benefits for its policyholders and their passengers and write off their proper obligations.”
Emmanuel and Sunny, 56, live in Purchase, New York and share it two children — son Gabe, who was born in 2002, and daughter Paloma, who was born in 2006.
Sunny, a lawyer and multi-platform journalist who joined View as a full-time co-host in 2016, he spoke openly about various issues her family seen over the years. In January 2021, she revealed that Emmanuel’s parents had both died of COVID-19 just weeks before.
“While I have chosen a very public career, as most of you know, those of you who know my husband Manny know that he is intensely private.” But after speaking with him, I felt it was very important from a public health perspective to share that we are deeply saddened by Manny’s loss of both parents over the holidays,” Sunny said View at that time.
Sunny added that her in-laws, Dr. Mary Jesus and Dr. A. Emmanuel“they were both doctors and they were both very cautious” and “they didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving with us because we all decided it wasn’t safe. And after many contacts, we still don’t know how they contracted this virus and this disease.”
American Transit is seeking at least $450 million in damages, according to the filing. Company lawyer, William Natbonyhe said Daily Mail“No-fault fraud is a big problem in New York. American Transit filed suit as part of its legal responsibility to combat such fraud.
