Millions of packages stolen every year. Door box It aims to change the way packages are delivered with a smart package box that features a theft-resistant design with live camera feeds and an alarm that automatically activates if the box is tampered with.
Launch after 2,000 units sold of initial version offering manual functionality It presented its latest product at CES 2025: Smart DoorBox.ai. This new system uses an AI-powered automatic unlocking mechanism that detects when a package has been delivered, allowing for hassle-free delivery even when the recipient is not at home.
DoorBox was founded by Kumar Sundaresan, who experienced the theft of his late father’s precious package containing his glasses and watch shortly after birth. This is Sundaresan’s fourth startup; he previously founded three companies in the technology and online food ordering sectors.
One of the notable features of the DoorBox is its steel cable, which can be attached to a door handle or other stationary object. According to the company, this cable is designed to withstand over 800 pounds of force, making it nearly impossible to break. When threatened, a 125-decibel alarm automatically activates and alerts the user via a mobile app. Users can also turn the alarm clock on or off manually at any time using the app. It can hold three to five medium-sized packages.
The mobile app not only sends alert notifications but also serves as a surveillance camera, allowing users to view live camera feeds when sensitive packages are expected. The app also allows users to lock or unlock the DoorBox remotely.
Smart DoorBox.ai costs $400 for the metal version and $300 for the plastic version, with a $20 monthly subscription fee for the app.
