CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES PROGRESS ACROSS LOS ANGELES COUNTY, FORCING THOUSANDS TO EVACUATE THEIR HOMES
Bass has been heavily criticized after it was reported that she was out of the country in Africa when the fires started on Tuesday. Bass returned to his hometown on Wednesday.
While Bass was on a trip abroad, Large fires devastated large areas of Los Angeles County. Five people have died, homes and buildings have been destroyed and at least 130,000 people have been ordered to evacuate due to the inferno.
Prominent figures have alleged that Bass’s incompetence has contributed to the current devastation.
In his post, Bilton fiercely attacked the mayor, stating: “Karen Bass cut funding to the fire department by over $17 million. She was in Ghana when the fires started, although she knew about them (as we all do), days before. This should “It has been treated as a CAT 5 hurricane before it started, but our current mayor treated it like it wasn’t important enough to be here.”
Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, owner of the Los Angeles Times tore off the mayor about the LAFD budget cuts, posted on Los Angeles Fire Department at $23 million. And reports of Empty Fire Hydrants Raise Serious Competition Questions…”
Soon-Shiong’s $23 million figure was inaccurate since the city cut about $17 million from the department last year. However, Bass’s original budget proposal sought to cut $23 million.
Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Rick Caruso said: “We have a mayor who is out of the country, and we have a city that is burning, and there are no resources to put out fires. It seems like we are in a third country world here.”
Hollywood celebrities also criticized city leadership. Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar wrote on Instagram: “The city of Los Angeles wants everyone to evacuate, but they are completely gridlocked and not a single traffic cop on the roads is helping.”
Influencer and model Amber Rose asked on Instagram: “How TF is there low water pressure in LA???? WTF Fire hydrants barely work here??? This is crazy!”
President-elect Donald Trump also criticized the mayor of Los Angeles, as well as Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., in a recent Truth Social post.
“The fire is spreading rapidly for 3 days – ZERO CONTAINMENT. No one has seen such failed numbers before! Blatant incompetence on the part of Gavin Newscum and Karen Bass… And Biden’s FEMA has no money, all wasted on the New Green Scam! Los Angeles is a total disaster!!!”
