This basketball robot uses artificial intelligence to return the ball after you hit it

Like anything in life, the secret to becoming Steph Curry or Sabrina Ionescu is practice, practice and more practice. You exercise when you are too hot, too cold, tired or sick.

With all this, finding a one-on-one partner is another question entirely. The good news is that later this year you can buy it for $1,000.

Davy Robot’s Datic 1 got some attention this week at CES 2025As attendees lined up to pull some hoops on the busy show floor. After you make a shot, the bot sits under the hoop and returns the ball.

The system is (relatively) portable at about 33 pounds. You drive it under the hoop and the arms reach up, taking the net with it. At CES, the rim was much lower than the arrangement, but the final version will be able to extend up to the standard 10 feet in the air. The robot uses machine vision and artificial intelligence to track the shooter, turning its head to turn its back.

Davy says the Kickstarter launch will be shot in June.
