ABC’s David Muir adjusts his coat while reporting on the LA Wildfires


David Muir faces backlash for sewing his fireproof jacket.

Fans are upset with ABC news anchor Muir, 51, after he appeared to use clothespins to grab himself at the waist while reporting on the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 8.

When Muir turned to look at the destruction behind him during the newscast, viewers noticed pegs on the back of his coat. Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on Muir’s a torn look through X

“People are losing everything they own, nobody cares what you look like,” wrote one social media user, while another added: “David Muir cares more about his looks than the fires.” A third person agreed, writing: “California is on fire and he doesn’t want his jacket to look like sackcloth on camera. Priority people!”

While some fans thought it was unnecessary for Muir to worry about his outfit during the devastating natural weather, others defended World news tonight anchor. “Leave David Muir and his fire jacket alone,” wrote one. “A little waistline never hurt anyone.”

Another fan also didn’t mind Muir’s clothespins, which read: “Keep David Muir SAMIEEEEEEE. He probably just pinned his clothes because it’s crazy windy. Make him look tasty.”

The fires affected many Hollywood favorites, including Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, Eugene Levy, Paris Hilton and others.

Dozens of famous people spoke about the fires, including Chrissy Teigenwho evacuated to a hotel with her husband John Legend and their four children: Luna, 8, Miles, 6, Esti, 23 months, and Wren, 18 months.
