Devin Haney said today that a rematch between him and Ryan Garcia is the “biggest fight” in boxing. He wants this to happen in 2025, whenever it’s on. “a level playing field.”
Haney-Garcia is an important fight, but it is certainly not the “biggest” one in the sport because their previous fight was a mismatch. Ryan took the padding out of Haney and put him on the mat three times. Devin looked like a human yo-yowith the number of times he hit the ground in that fight, which was six times, not three.
The referee gave Haney a break by ruling three additional knockdowns as slips when he continued to collapse to the canvas after being seriously injured by Garcia in the seventh.
Former two-division world champion Haney is in London today to meet with Turki Al-Shiekh to see if he has a better deal to offer him than the one he received from BLK Prime to fight on their network in March. If Turki’s offer is no better than BLK Prime’s, it’s unclear whether Haney will continue to buy.
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) still blames his loss to Ryan last April on being dirty with Ostarine in his system. Fans don’t believe that, but Haney brings it up instead of conceding defeat. That would have been better of Devin.
Still, it would be a bitter pill for him to openly admit that Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) was too powerful and talented to stand in their April 20 fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. York.
“The biggest fight,” Devin Haney told boxing newstalking about a rematch between him and Ryan Garcia as the “biggest” fight in the sport. “It has to be clean. That’s the only way a rematch can happen, but it’s a fight I’d love to do in 2025. Maybe we can make it happen, but I just want to be on equal footing.
“I am here to meet with His Excellency Turki Al-Shiekh to try to reach an agreement. If not, I have a deal with BLK Prime who is willing to give me what I want. We can follow that path. “I’m here for a reason and we can get it done,” Haney said.
