Wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area, Angelina Jolie and her son Knox they do what they can to help.
Jolie, 49, and Knox, 16, were spotted at the grocery store loading up on essentials, including water, according to a story published Daily Mail on Friday, January 10.
“We have people in our house,” she said as she packed her suitcase in a video obtained by the outlet. Asked if she planned to donate to the relief effort, she said: “Yes, I will, right now I’m taking care of people close to me and I have them at home.”
Knox is one of six children Jolie shares with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. The exes are also parents to sons Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21, and daughters Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and Knox’s twin Vivienne.
The fire crisis has been raging in the Los Angeles area since Tuesday, Jan. 7, when strong winds ignited fast-burning brush fires that continue to spread in an area that hasn’t seen significant rainfall in months.
As of Friday, January 10, 10 people had died, 9,000 structures were damaged, and 150,000 people were under mandatory evacuation orders. Los Angeles Times. Jolie’s $25 million home in Los Feliz remained outside the evacuation zones.
Due to the locations of the fires, many other celebrities were not so lucky, many of whom live in the affluent Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. Paris Hilton, Anna Faris, Heidi Monday and Spencer Pratt, Billy Crystal Mel Gibson and Milo Ventimiglia are among the celebrities who have confirmed that they have lost their homes.
“Sitting with my family watching the news and seeing our home in Malibu burn down on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,” Hilton wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “This house was the place where we built so many precious memories. It is where Phoenix took its first steps and where we dreamed of building lifelong memories with London.”
Meanwhile, Jolie isn’t the only celebrity to lend a helping hand. Jamie Lee Curtis on Thursday, she announced that she had donate $1 million to help efforts. Sharon Stone is partnering with The Coop store in LA to collect donations for displaced people, and Halle Berry she said she was donating her “entire closet.”
Overall, CBS News reports that more than 200,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes and another 166,000 people are being warned to evacuate.
