Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis mocked Teófimo López, reacting to his sketch on Friday. Teófimo played a stray on the sidewalk, holding a begging cup and trying to get money from people passing by. He wants to terminate his contract with Top Rank because he feels he is not making the money he should.
Davis showed an old post of Lopez saying he would be the “highest paid” fighter at lightweight. That never happened. He came out of the weight class and didn’t make as much money at 140 as Tank and Ryan Garcia.
Teofimo seems miserable because he wants to leave Top Rank because he thinks he can make more money fighting with another promoter.
Teofimo has been defeated by George Kambosos, who was involved in two controversial fights that many fans believe he should have lost, and looks poor. Lopez is now trying to get out of his Top Rank contract to join the fighters making big money with other promoters, fighting on Riyadh cards.
Changing promoters probably won’t help Teófimo. His main problems are his lack of talent and mental strength to beat the best. Losing to Kambosos showed that López couldn’t handle things under pressure.
Lopez’s fights with Jamaine Ortiz, Sandor Martin and Steve Claggett further reinforced the belief that he was not prepared to fight at a high level. In the eyes of the fans, he should have lost to Jamaine and Sandor.
Ryan has a net worth of $50 millionand has never won a world title. Tank has also made a lot of money. It doesn’t look like Teofimo will ever make the kind of money that Davis and Garcia made. He hasn’t been consistent enough with his career since 2021 and his performances are getting worse.
“I have a video on my phone of him saying he was going to be the highest paid at £135. He’s just talking out of his ass. “It’s crazy how things are developing, and his butt is starting to look like a light-skinned Squidward,” Gervonta Davis said on social media, reacting to Teófimo López’s sketch in which he appears asking for money on a sidewalk with a sign and a cup.
