Democratic senator warns that “the Los Angeles fires are a preview of the atrocities to come”, affirms that Trump was bought by “big oil”

As fires rage in California, Sen. Ed MarkeyDemocrat from Massachusetts, stated in a post on X that the catastrophe is “what a climate emergency looks like.” In another tweet, he took aim at President-elect Trump, claiming that the incoming president has been bought off by the oil industry.

“Trump has been bought for a billion dollars by Big Oil. Just a payment to end the IRA and the Green New Deal. We know what will happen. More fires, more climate disasters, more deaths. The Los Angeles fires are a preview of the atrocities to come,” Markey declared in a post on X.

Markey, who claims there is a “climate crisis”, has also warned of the possible effects of artificial intelligence (AI).

It suggested that the growing use of AI could result in “doubling data center electricity demand by 2026”, “increasing carbon emissions”, “water supply shortages” and “e-waste”.

“We are already facing a climate crisis. We cannot allow AI to make it worse,” Markey warned.

Trump is scheduled to take office January 20.
