Jason Oppenheim and his eponymous real estate agency dedicate their services to helping individuals pushed out by wildfires in Los Angeles.

Jason co-owns his agency with his twin Brett Oppenheimhe further explains his new pro bono mission in a recorded video.
“I woke up this morning and many friends and clients reached out to me they lost their homes over the past few days and they need help with a place to live now,” Jason said. “Their families are being displaced and of course as real estate agents we have an obligation to help them find a place – although it will be difficult because thousands of people (are) looking for places and (there aren’t) nearly as many houses available.”

He further called on all the city’s real estate agencies to “come together and work hard for the community.”

On Tuesday, January 7, a series of wildfires broke out in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood and around Los Angeles, causing mass devastation. At the time of publication, 11 people had died as the fires burned more than 37,000 acres of land. In addition, more than 12,000 structures were reportedly destroyed and tens of thousands of residents were forced from their homes under mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders.

As the wildfires continue to burn in the LA area, many victims are beginning to figure out their next steps. Jason wailed for his part subsequent real estate struggles faced on Friday 10 January.
“I was looking in the MLS (directory) trying to help displaced families from the fires find properties to rent,” he said in an Instagram story video. “I’ve seen dozens of examples of people trying to do things like this where they can’t raise $9,500 or even $9,000 and then yesterday they raised the rent by 30 percent to $12,000.”
While Jason noted that he was “all for free market capitalism”, he claimed that he was “shamelessly exploiting” natural disasters at the moment. Stause, 43, agreed to her boss, whom she previously dated in 2021.
“This is disgusting,” Stause wrote via her Instagram stories. “Other realtors who have a moral compass, please report to the board.”
