It wasn’t love at first sight Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie Kelce.
“(Me and my friends) were just messing around so I swiped right,” Kylie, 32, said of coming across her now-husband’s Tinder account on the Sunday, Jan. 12 episode of “Sunday Sports Club.” podcast. “We agreed (and) I sent him a pickup line. I said, ‘I need a LifeAlert. I fell into you and I can’t get up.'”
Jason, 37, was clearly not a fan of Kylie’s opening line.
“He texted back and said, ‘No, you have to try harder,'” Kylie he reminded his NFL wife Allison Kuchova. “Then I wrote, ‘If I told you I work for UPS. Would you let me handle your package?” He said, “Much better. I like that one much better.” … And here we are, almost four children later.”
Jason and Kylie matched on a dating app in 2015 during his early stint as a center with the Philadelphia Eagles. At the time, Kylie was a student at Cabrini University, but she never realized the extent of Jason’s professional soccer career until she met him in person. (Retired in 2024 after 14 seasons with Philly.)
“His Tinder bio (said) he wanted to cuddle and have intimate conversations about having babies, it was sarcastic but it ended up being very ironic,” Kylie joked. “But then we kept messaging and it was like a playful, get-to-know-you (conversation) and after a while I still thought his photos were familiar.”
Kylie and her friends tried to look up Jason online using “all the information (they) had,” which led them straight to the Eagles.
“Of course, my friends and I were like, ‘He’s a catfish,'” the “Not Gonna Lie” podcast host recalled. “So when he said, ‘You should meet us at this bar,’ one of my friends, who’s like my friend rider or die… she said: ‘We have to go because when it’s him it’s funny (and when it’s not him it’s even funnier).’
Kylie met up with Jason at a local bar in Philly a few hours after the team’s holiday party. As was mentioned earlier on him and his brother Travis KelceOn the “New Heights” podcast, he fell asleep at the bar several times within 45 minutes. His teammate at the time Beau Allen was enlisted in “fireman’s wear” him home.
Jason eventually apologized to Kylie for his drunkennessasking for a second chance at a first impression that ended up going much more smoothly. Per Kylie, they talked for three hours without a hitch — and continued to talk on subsequent dates.
“The year I was an RA (at Cabrini) … he came to campus and it’s like he stayed in my dorm more than once,” Kylie recalled. “Two days later, I’d have people in class saying, ‘Oh, so-and-so was talking about how they went up until 8 o’clock in the morning and (saw) Jason Kelce just walking across campus to go to his truck.’ I was like, ‘That man must really love me, because why the hell else would he be on (campus).'”
Jason and Kylie finally got married in 2018, a year before they welcomed daughter Wyatt. Daughters Ellie and Bennett followed in 2021 and 2023 and are currently expecting another baby girl in 2025.
