Ryan Dorsey, Naya Rivera’s ex, wishes her a heavenly birthday

Ryan Dorsey pays tribute to his former ex Naya Rivera four years after her death.

“🤍. Happy birthday in heaven.” 🤍,” wrote Dorsey, 41 Instagram on Sunday, January 12. “5 birthdays since you were gone. Everyday thoughts on how it went wrong. Memories linked to places, still seeing all things, seeing all our faces.”

“Visions of happiness and sadness, 15 years pass when I hear a certain song. I often still shake my head in disbelief, They say time heals all, but all is not sorrow,” he continued. “I’m doing the best I can for our JoJo Binx, As time goes by, I’m often alone, I sit and think. I think more of our better times, Like this picture from the past, but it still burns.”

Along with his message, Dorsey shared a picture of himself and Rivera walking hand-in-hand while attending the previous Golden Globes.

Dorsey and Rivera tied the knot in 2014 and welcomed son Josey the following year. “They are so excited to be first-time parents,” a source exclusively said My Weekly at that time. “It was a very easy pregnancy and delivery. Naya was born a mother and is doing really great so far. And Ryan has amazing fatherly instincts and he’s been waiting on them hand and foot.”

The couple divorced in 2018 and had a son together until Rivera died in July 2020 at the age of 33. Rivera was swimming in Lake Piru, California with Josey when she drowned.

Since his death, Dorsey has continued to honor Rivera via emotional tributes on social media. In January 2023, Dorsey commemorated Rivera’s birthday with a series of throwback photos of her and Josey.

“With every little bit of time that goes by for me to look at the pictures, it gets a little easier… but I still don’t have the answers to the questions why our sweet boy asks from time to time. I will never do that,” he wrote via Instagram. “We’re doing the best we can.” 🕊️🦋Fly high 🦋🕊️.”

He continued, “If you’re reading this, no matter what you’re going through, take a moment to be grateful that you’re still here on this journey. I know some days are harder to get up than others, but we have to keep going. 🫶.”
