Tyler Perry criticized insurance companies that instituted policy changes before the fires that ravaged the greater Los Angeles area.
“Watching a daughter use a garden hose to try to protect her 90-year-old parents’ house because their insurance was canceled was gut-wrenching,” Perry wrote Instagram on Sunday, January 12.
“Does anyone else find it appalling that insurance companies can take billions of dollars from communities for years and then suddenly allow them to cancel millions of policies on the very people they made their fortunes off?” the filmmaker continued. “People who have been paying premiums all their lives are left with nothing because of pure greed.”
He concluded: “I’m keeping everyone in my prayers as I try to figure out what steps to take to do everything I can to help as many as possible.”
