Patrick and Brittany Mahomes explain their children’s names: Sterling, Bronze

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomeshave kept up with the theme when it comes to baby names.

After engagement in September 2020, the couple announced they were expecting their first child. Patrick and Brittany welcomed daughter Sterling Skye in February 2021. The couple tied the knot in March 2022, and in November their son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, joined the family.

“My second child, Patrick Mahomes III. I have to say his real name or his dad will get mad,” Brittany explained on the site The Kelly Clarkson Show in January 2024. “His name is Patrick (and) we call him Bronze.” (The NFL player’s full name is Patrick Lavon Mahomes II and was named after his father, Pat Mahomes with.)

Sterling was originally intended for their dog

Brittany shared the origin of Sterling’s name during an Instagram Story Q&A in April 2023. “I got Steele in college and named him that,” she explained of the couple’s older dog. “Then we got our second dog and we named her Sterling because it suited Steel perfectly.

Brittany continued, “Then I said no, I want that to be my daughter’s name, so we came up with Silver to go with Steel.”

Brittany explained that they were “already set on Sterling” when they were expecting their daughter. “Then having a boy and he was Patrick Mahomes III. Bronze was meant to be and was perfect,” she wrote.

Bronze was almost Trey

Patrick shared that he initially had a different name in mind for his son. “We went with Trey first because third obviously and everything like that,” he explained on Audacy’s (Kansas City) 610 Sports Radio’s The Drive in December 2022. People.
