Christina Applegate slams Hollywood skeptics, calls LA Fires ‘good’


Christina Applegate has some harsh words for people praising the “devastating” result ongoing fires in Los Angeles.

“You know what I’m talking about? To berate people who say it’s good, ‘It’s Hollywood and those stupid Hollywood people,’ like you’re kidding me,” Applegate, 53, said on Tuesday, March 14. her “Messy” podcast.. “I think people who don’t live here feel like it’s just the celebrities who come and run everything.”

She said celebrities only make up a “small fraction” of the city’s population.

Her cohost Jamie Lynn Sigler he added: “You know what makes LA? The most diverse group of people you’ve ever seen in one place.”

“This is a town of people who work their asses off at fast-food chains or, you know, builders and painters, and it’s countless groups of people,” Applegate continued. “So to say that good disposal is really bad, and I don’t like that at all.

“Is there a group of people who have been affected who will have the ability to rebuild their lives? I wouldn’t say easy, but soon,” added Sigler. “And there are thousands of other people who literally have no idea where to start? Yes. And we must hold them both in our hearts.’

On January 7, an extreme wind storm driven by Santa Ana gusts sparked wildfires that have since burned more than 40,000 acres and killed 24 people. Several celebrities, incl Mandy Moore and Paris Hiltonthey spoke publicly about losing their homes.

Applegate told listeners during Tuesday’s episode of the podcast that she was able to go home after the splurge two nights at the hotel last week.

“We have travel bags. Last week we evacuated for a few days and then came home,” Applegate said. “I only have my backpack and important things. Important papers and things that mean something to you.”

“We’re kind of constantly on our toes,” she continued. “We’re fine right now. We’re just sending our thoughts to everyone who’s lost a home, people I know who’ve lost their homes and are displaced.”
