Jessica Simpson Family Guide: Meet Her Sister, 3 Kids & More

Jessica Simpsonthe famous family has made headlines over the years.

After Jessica rose to fame in 1999 with the release of her debut album Sweet kissesher younger sister Ashlee Simpsonshe served as one of her backup dancers before embarking on her own career in the music industry.

While pursuing her music career, Jessica got married Nick Lachey in 2002 and became the star of an MTV reality series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. After couple’s divorce in 2005 Johnson met Eric Johnson in 2010.

Six months later, Johnson popped the question to Jessica. The couple said “I do” in 2014 and welcomed daughter Maxwell, son Ace and daughter Birdie in 2012, 2013, 2019.

“Being a mother is the best opportunity and challenge I’ve ever had in my life,” Jessica said. Our Weekly in May 2018. “Right now my kids are in this amazing phase where I really listen to them without judgment and they teach me so much. These little innocent children teach me so much about life.”

In 2025, Jessica shared she and Johnson broke up.

Jessica’s mom and dad, Joe Simpsondivorced in 2012. Years later, Jessica reflected on how their separation affected her life.

“I think when your parents get divorced when you’re older, it’s so bizarre,” Jessica exclusively speaking Our in March 2021. “I wouldn’t change it, although I feel like it made it harder for me to accept other people in their lives. … I didn’t really know what to do with it. I didn’t know what friendship was and what wasn’t. I didn’t know if they were still what they taught me and were waiting to have sex until they were married.’

Jessica shared her memories of 2020, Open bookthat Joe told her about his separation from Tina while she was in the hospital giving birth to daughter Maxwell. Jessica sided with her mother in the divorce, leading to tension between her and her father.

“They were married for thirty-four years and it was hard for me to be with them because they stopped loving each other,” she wrote. “I was blindsided by the news, which triggered his natural salesmanship. He put it to me as a positive thing: “You gave me confidence… You gave me a way out.” Great, I thought: I’ve broken my own heart.

Jessica eventually mends her relationship with her father.

Younger sister Ashlee also welcomed children who are close in age to Jessica’s children. Ashlee, who welcomed son Bronx with ex-husband in 2008 Pete Wentzhe said Our in 2012 that Jessica needed some advice when it came to being a parent.

“I’m so proud of her!” she said. “There were little things here and there (I advised her) that you ask your friends and other mothers about, but other than that she’s great.”

After splitting from Wentz, Ashlee tied the knot Evan Ross in 2014. The couple welcomed Jagger in 2015 and Ziggy in 2020.

After his divorce with Keri D’AngeloJohnson met Jessica in 2010 and proposed six months later. The couple tied the knot in 2014 and welcomed Maxwell, Ace and Birdie.

In January 2025, Jessica shared that she and Johnson they went their separate ways. “Eric and I were living apart and going through a painful situation in our marriage,” she said in a statement Our. “Our children come first and we focus on what is best for them. We are grateful for all the love and support coming our way and appreciate our privacy right now as we deal with this as a family.”
