Kelly Stafford was certainly concerned about bringing her sick family on the Los Angeles Rams’ private jet for their playoff trip to Arizona.
After Rams playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, January 13, was moved from Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, the Rams organization provided a plane for the entire team and their families to travel together to the game.
Kelly, wife of the Rams running back Matthew Staffordshe was sick with the flu at the time, which also affected other members of her household. Kelly and Matthew have four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler7, Hunter6 a Tyler4.
“We were sick on that flight,” Kelly admitted on the Wednesday, Jan. 15, episode of her episode “The Morning After” podcast. “There was a huge guilt factor when I said, ‘Should we be on this plane right now because of everyone around us and everyone who has to play this game?’
Before boarding, Kelly turned to other members of the Rams family for advice on how to handle the situation.
“They said, ‘Get on that plane.’ We all need to be together,” Kelly said. “It was so unbelievable for me to hear that because it was like, ‘Should I stay back with my kids?’
Kelly also had the blessing of her husband, who insisted that his wife and daughters accompany him on the trip.
“Matthew said, ‘No, we’ll do whatever it takes. We’re all getting on this plane. We’re going to be together right now,” Kelly said.
Despite all the uncertainty, Kelly was grateful to take the leap of faith and attend the game — a 27-9 Rams victory that earned them a trip to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in the NFL divisional round on Sunday, Jan. 19.
“This win, other than the Super Bowl (in 2022), was probably my favorite win when I was a Ram,” Kelly gushed.
However, the game was certainly not without problems. Through her Instagram Story, Kelly revealed that one of her girls he spent most of the match sick.
“This girl ❤️. In the middle of her puking in the bathroom ‘Mommy we keep winning,'” Kelly wrote alongside a picture of her daughter hugging Matthew after the game. “Couldn’t wait to be in his arms.”
