Samsung to launch Galaxy S25 on January 22 – here’s what to expect

The biggest reveal from last week’s Samsung CES press conference may have been another press conference. The hardware giant has shut down the teasing main event company’s upcoming show. The next Samsung Unpacked event will be held on January 22 at 10:00 AM.

As with all recent Unpackeds, next week’s big show will also be broadcast live Samsung websiteas well as the company YouTube channel.

Samsung is so excited about pre-orders shipping ahead of schedule that pre-event bookings come with $50 Samsung store credit. You can find all the fine print on it here.

Without a doubt, the absolute slam-dunk for the event is the Galaxy S25 lineup. After leaving CES/MWC for mobile announcements, the company has developed a two-year cadence for flagship releases. We get the Galaxy S series in January/February and the new foldables in the summer.

The lineup should include three flagship models: the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, the latter being the product of the S line that replaces the Galaxy Note as the largest, most premium device. As always, the host of the event is peppered with leaks, renders and cases. The latter gives a sense of the general dimensions for the line, as they are built according to the specifications provided by Samsung to the manufacturer.

The lion’s share of rumors suggest that the S25 is very similar to its predecessor. The biggest change on the hardware front is a slimmer design. Rumors was published this week Cue Samsung shaving 1-2 millimeters off the device’s profile. Another almost certain rumor is inclusion Snapdragon 8 Elite Qualcomm introduced the chip in Hawaii last October.

The usual caveat to this is that there is always some processor variation in international markets. Here in the US, however, there is hardly any work.

Galaxy AI will, of course, be the focus as Samsung not only positions itself as a leader in the category, but also differentiates its offering from the Google Gemini features that will be available on Android devices. Of course, last year’s big announcement was about AI Circular to searcha Google feature that first launched on the S24.

Other possible – but significantly less certain – reveals include a follow-up to the lukewarmly received Galaxy Ring and a closer look. Project MoohanThe augmented reality headset is being developed in partnership with Google.
