Brody Jenner says he received a “genuine” apology from Caitlyn Jenner

Brody Jenner he says Caitlyn Jenner has apologized for “not being there” when Brody was growing up.

“I just recently got a real, heartfelt apology,” Brody, 41, said of Caitlyn, 75, on the Wednesday, Jan. 15, episode Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test. “It was the first time in my life that I got an apology. You know, ‘I’m sorry I wasn’t there’ and honestly, it meant a lot.

It’s no secret that Brody and Caitlyn share complex history. Long before he became a star Hills or competing on special unitsBrody spent his formative years with a famous father who wasn’t always around. Caitlyn, formerly Bruce, transitioned in 2015 and since then their relationship has been “better,” Brody said on the Fox reality show.

When he was young, “I happened to see him — then ‘him’ — you know, here and there,” he recalled. “But my mom would tell me to write on the cards, ‘Why doesn’t dad call me on my birthday?'”

A former Olympic decathlete and motivational speaker, Caitlyn has six children with three different wives: Burt Jenner and Cassandra Marino with Chrystie Scott, Brandon Jenner and Brody with Linda Thompson and Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner with Kris Jenner.

“I had an incredible mother,” Brody said special units. “Dad, Bruce, wasn’t around that much at the time. They split up and then he met a woman. She also had children. The woman he met… they had children together.”

Caitlyn appeared Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007–2021) with ex-wife Kris and their daughters Kylie and Kendall, in addition Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Rob Kardashian — Kris’s children from her previous marriage to the deceased Robert Kardashian.

Brody admitted that he felt “a little left out” by the Kardashians, but with hindsight, he now understands that Caitlyn was “going through (her) own issues, transitioning, and that was all that was on TV, and there were moments that we would they had that were all filmed, and it was just very invasive and not very real, I would say.”

When Brody “found out that Caitlyn or Bruce wanted to be Caitlyn, it was kind of a relief,” he shared. “I think a lot of things about my father in my life started to make sense and maybe why he wasn’t there all these years.

Brody has since gained a new perspective welcoming a daughter Honey with Tia Blanco in 2023.

“I think when Bruce wasn’t growing up and she was making that transition, it was hard to be her son,” he said special units. “I just had a beautiful little daughter. I don’t live for myself anymore. I live for her. … I think it will make me a better father.”

He added: “I’m going to do the exact opposite of being there for her like my father did for me.”
