Fire and Ash promises to ‘get your blood pumping’

James Cameron on it rose from the depths of post-production Avatar to give an update on the upcoming franchise Avatar: Fire and Ashes.

“We have some really smart moving parts,” he said Empire. “You can spill your blood in this movie. “We’re trying to move beyond the paradigm of ‘all humans are bad, all Na’vi are good,'” Cameron said. The new look, available exclusively through the magazine, showcased the vibe of the film and gave a sense of what Cameron was going for with the return of Windtraders. “They are nomadic traders, the medieval equivalent of the camel caravans of the Spice Route,” he said. “And you know, they’re just fun. Like all Na’vi, they live in symbiosis with their creatures.” He also quipped, “If you have any marine blood in your veins, you’ll want to be on (their) ship.”

Avatar: Fire and Ashes opens in theaters on December 19.
