Love Island United Kingdom‘with Tommy Fury sets a record what went wrong in his relationship with Molly-Mae Hague.
“With my split from Molly, there’s been so much s- in the papers every day for the last six months, but if it’s not coming from my mouth or Molly’s mouth, it’s complete and utter bullshit-,” Fury, 25, said. UK Men’s Health in an interview published on Wednesday, January 15. “All I’ve seen in the last six months is ‘Imposter!’ “He slept with me!” “He slept with this girl, he slept with that girl!” Complete and utter bullshit.’
Instead, Fury explained that his mental health began to suffer after he suffered an injury in boxing. He self-medicated with alcohol as a way to cope.
“We broke up because I had a drinking problem and I couldn’t be the partner I wanted to be anymore,” he said. “It kills me to say it, but I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, I loved to drink.”
Fury made that clear cheating “never was.” Instead, the problem in his relationship was “drinking and drinking is not a good thing”.
“You have to grab it,” he said. “If you’re in the same place as me where you just think this will cure all your problems, it won’t. You wake up worse and want to drink more to feel happy again. That’s the cycle.”
Fury and Hague, 25, fell in love when they appeared in Season 5 Love Island United Kingdom in 2019. They got engaged in 2023, months after welcoming their daughter Bambi.
In August 2024, however, a couple called off their engagement and they went their separate ways.
“Never in a million years did I think I would have to write this,” Hauge wrote via her Instagram Story at the time. “After five years together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not in this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has ended.”
In his latest interview, Fury said he wished more viewers would ask if there was more going on in his life after the split, instead of jumping to conclusions.
“Not once did anyone ask me how I was doing. I checked my inbox. There are millions of messages out there, all negative,” he said. “I’m not looking for sympathy. Whether I do the right thing or do the wrong thing, people will still hate me. As long as my family loves me. I just want to fight, make money and take care of my daughter.”
As Hague prepares to release his new documentary series, Molly-Mae: Behind it allon Friday, January 17, Fury is focused on getting back in the ring and doing what he loves so much.
“2025,” he said. “Positivity begets positivity.”
