Things heated up when Traitors the contestants came Dylan Efronbrother Zac Efron – and his acting skills.
During the latest episode, which premiered on Thursday, January 16, 32-year-old Dylan spoke Bob the Drag Queen on round table expulsion meeting.
“I really think he’s a traitor. Like what game is easier for a Traitor to play? I would play a very calm game because I can’t be boisterous,” he said. “What would Bob do? Bob is an amazing actor.”
Dylan he used his experience with Zac, 35, adding: “I grew up with the actor.” Without missing a single pause, 39-year-old Bob replied, “It’s not good.”
The rest of the cast wasn’t thrilled with Bob’s dig at Zac. “That wasn’t nice” Dolores Catania he noted, before adding later in the episode, “Good job Dylan.” And listen, your brother is a good actor.”
Zac, 37, has been a big topic of conversation on the competition show despite not making an appearance – yet. He previously rose to fame after landing a number of television and film roles, including 2006 High School Musicalwhile Dylan spent more time behind the scenes working as a producer and stuntman on various projects.
“I was behind the camera. But being able to not stay behind the scenes was a really nice change,” Dylan exclusively said My Weekly in September 2023 about his plans to try something new. “So I think if I can wear all those hats and still create the stories that I want to tell (that would be great). To be able to experience that for myself is really nice. It’s a good mix of both worlds.”
Dylan admitted at the time that he did he couldn’t see himself working on a scripted project.
“I could never do what Zac does. I play myself in front of the camera while Zac plays the characters. They are two different skill sets,” he added. “He can play different characters and I can only play myself.
After working on Netflix documentaries Down to Earth with ZacDylan complimented his older brother set a good example on the set.
“I like doing things with my brother. It’s really comforting to be with family (and) do these things. That will always be at the top of what I like to do. But I think it’s good that we do things separately,” he continued. “Because I remember we wanted to do a show together and I really wouldn’t have been ready for it. He’s been in front of the camera his whole life and it was second nature to him. I was a shy little kid so I had to grow into it.”
Dylan said he would be excited about that working with Zac on a project again in the future. “Now would be the right time,” he said. “We’re still thinking (what to do). We’re in the process of thinking. We really want to take a step back and see what stories we want to tell, how we can do it and enjoy ourselves. We want to keep comparing it.”
Before Dylan became a breakout star Traitors season 3, zac gently showed support for his brother’s latest effort.
“I think Dylan’s going to win,” Zac said AND! News in June 2024. “I hope so because he’s so good at games. He always was, ever since childhood. He is like a master of the game. … If anyone can do this, it’s him. I’m rooting for him.”
New episodes Traitors will be published on Peacock Thursdays until March 6.
