Just ahead Today’s decision of the Supreme Court — which saw the nation’s highest court uphold a law banning TikTok in the United States from January 19 — Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had a “very good” phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, including a TikTok discussion. Additionally, the president-elect said he would make a decision on TikTok in the “not too distant” future, but did not say what he would do.
Trump has previously signaled that he no longer supports the ban He urged the Supreme Court to block the law It demanded that the app be shut down or sold by January 19, but said in a message today that it would make a decision in the future, but first it needed “time to review the situation.” He also said that the decision of the Supreme Court was “expected”.

Before the decision, Trump also wrote on Truth Social that he had a good call with Xi this morning and that he expects they will “solve many problems together” and start immediately.

Shortly after the call, the Supreme Court issued a decision on this the ban would pass. That means the app will be shut down in the US if it doesn’t sell — something TikTok claims it won’t be able to achieve in the time it’s given.
It’s unclear whether TikTok will effectively be blacked out on January 19, or if users will continue to run on their already installed devices, with reports pointing to both scenarios. But it was the Biden administration said that he was considering his ways to keep TikTok available in the US even if the ban is in place.
