The annual awards show was originally scheduled to take place on January 12, but was pushed back to January 26 after Santa Ana winds caused several wildfires to spread throughout the LA area. The fires destroyed businesses, schools and homes, forced thousands to evacuate the region and claimed at least 25 lives.

While the Golden Globes are also voted on by entertainment journalists, the CCA is specific to the Critics Choice Awards.
