The 2025 Critics Choice Awards will go ahead despite several delays due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
The annual awards show was originally scheduled to take place on January 12, but was pushed back to January 26 after Santa Ana winds caused several wildfires to spread throughout the LA area. The fires destroyed businesses, schools and homes, forced thousands to evacuate the region and claimed at least 25 lives.
Period he later announced that the ceremony had been postponed a second time to February, although the exact date has yet to be revealed.
Several celebrities were there affected by firesincluding Adam Brodywhich earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Netflix’s Nobody wants this. The show received a total of four nominations, including Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Kristen Bell. (Brody, 45, and his wife, Leighton Meestersupposedly they lost their home on fire.)
While Shogun leads the TV nomination pack with six, Conclave and Evil with a total of 11 nominations on a split number of films, followed by Dune: Part Two and Emilia Perez with 10 each.

After two delays due to bushfires, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Friday, February 7. Live from E! the red carpet special has been cancelled.
The 2025 Critics Choice Awards will air live on E! beginning at 7:00 PM ET. It will be streaming on Peacock the next day.
Chelsea Handler will return to host the Critics Choice Awards for the third year in a row. “Coming back for a third year to host the Critics Choice Awards was even sweeter knowing it will now air on E!”, Handler, whose talk show Chelsea lately previously aired on the network, listed in an October 2024 statement, per Variety. “I feel like I’m returning to my birthplace.”
Several of this year’s top movie nominations included acting nods for its stars, such as Best Actor for Conclave‘with Ralph FiennesBest Actress for Evil‘with Cynthia Erivo and Best Actress for Emilia Perez‘with Karla Sofia Gascón.

Meanwhile, it shows Abbott Elementary Schooly English teacher, Hacks, Nobody wants this, Only murders in the building, Someone Somewhere, St. Denis Medical and What we do in the shadows they’re all in the running for Best Comedy Series.

Similar to the Oscars – which are based on voting by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – the Critics Choice Awards are decided by their own governing body, the Critics Choice Association (CCA). While the Golden Globes are also voted on by entertainment journalists, the CCA is specific to the Critics Choice Awards.
