Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Deanthey have been married for more than 50 years, but we rarely see them together – and so they just like it.
The country icon first met her future husband when she moved to Nashville in 1964 to begin her music career. They tied the knot within two years of meeting each other, but as Parton’s star rose, Dean kept to himself.
In May 2016 they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
“We’re perfect partners,” Parton exclusively speaking My Weekly in January 2022. “We both have a great sense of humor. … We are able to solve any problem and any situation, make fun of it and not make it too difficult, but we respect and like each other. We were lucky, let’s put it that way.”
She added: “You know, most people can keep a marriage (strong) if you put in a little effort. Some people are just slouching and lazy and about things that aren’t important, like leaving the toilet seat up. And if that’s the worst you have to worry about, you’re already in trouble.”
