Mena Massoud counting down the days until he and his fiancee Emily Shah ti.e. node — twice.
“It was fun! Emily plans a lot,” 33-year-old Massoud exclusively said My Weekly at a screening of his new film in New York I wish you were here presents Film company on Wednesday, January 15. “He asks me a lot of things and I do a little bit, but we took a break during the holidays. We haven’t done any planning and now we’re starting big because the wedding is in July.
actor proposed to Shah, 30, in December 2023 while on vacation in Japan. They will have two wedding ceremonies in honor of their respective religious backgrounds.
“We’re doing three days, but really two days,” Massoud explained on Wednesday. “We’re doing a Hindu ceremony for Emily and a Coptic Christian ceremony for me the next day (which would be like a typical western wedding). So I think we have a little bit of everything.”

Massoud went on to tease that the big day would be “a great party”.
“That’s the way I see it – you’re throwing a party for your family and friends,” Massoud said. Our. “And so you’re kind of a party planner. … I’m excited.”
While the Shah took charge of the planning, Aladdin star said he ultimately has the final say on wardrobe choices.
“(I’m still figuring it out,” he said. “Emily knows what she’s going to take on.”
Massoud and Shah have been together since 2020, after they met private membership based application.
“She just wanted to be friends, but I wanted more,” Massoud recalled HI! Indo-Arabia in May 2024.
A year earlier, Massoud said WZRA TV that she and Shah had “been talking a while before” started dating.
“I knew Em about a year before,” he said in 2023. “So I think she made the first move and then I made the move. Everything worked out in the end. I think that’s often how the best relationships start – you get to know the person, but sometimes nothing happens right away (until it all falls apart.”
Massoud immediately thought Shaw was “beautiful and wanted to get to know her better”.
Despite their busy schedules, celebrities still try to make their relationships work despite the distance. Once Massoud and Shah’s relationship turned romantic, they started chronicling their romance through social media. They are also each other’s biggest fans, which for Shah means supporting Massoud’s film career (he most recently starred in I wish you were here, Julia Stiles‘ directorial debutopposite Isabelle Fuhrman.)
“I’ve done a few romantic comedies (and) light-hearted films, and it was clear that it was going to be intense when reading the book and reading the script,” he explained. “But I wanted to do it as an actor. Of course you want to get these opportunities. I just think they don’t make that many movies. I wanted to appreciate this opportunity.”
He added: “It’s so easy with Julia. She really stretched me and taught me a lot.”
