An activist group recently used the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s grant database to uncover the school’s ties to Israeli military programs. As a result, the university closed the database.
The MIT Coalition for Palestine recently published a booklet titled “MIT Science for Genocide” where he reveals the school’s various connections with the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The booklet claims that Israel has invested $3.7 million in the school to conduct research on various defense initiatives. MIT spokeswoman Sarah McDonnell said in response to The Intercept’s comments: “We respect that there is a range of viewpoints on any topic within this group, and as a general practice our office does not comment individually to the media. We do not organize the views of specific students or alumni and freely expresses in a way.” McDonnell added, “MIT and its administration are committed to promoting student welfare, protecting free speech, and responding appropriately to policy violations.”
