I have mostly tested it each meal set in the market for the past few years. While there’s no denying the absolute convenience they offer, there are also a few tips and tricks I’ve learned to make the experience even smoother, namely the gadgets and gizmos I reach for every time a new box arrives at my door, full of cooking ingredients. From your favorite pan to the best oil, consider these basics if you’re cooking more at home. Of course, you probably already have a cutting board and bowl. But if you’re looking for an upgrade, I highly recommend the pieces in this guide.

Do I have anything else?
I go through a lot of paper towels when making meal kits. I also highly recommend having a Rachael Ray-inspired “trash bin” on the counter for random plastic pieces and the aforementioned paper towels. (And separately for vegetable scraps, if you compost.) Another thing worth noting is that you will likely use a lot of dishes when making dinner sets. For the best experience, prepare your dishes and empty your dishwasher. And finally, I like to have a pair of scissors around to cut open sauce packets or chop green onions. I don’t think you really need special kitchen shears, but if you have some, they will come in handy. Otherwise, grab whatever (clean!) pair you have.
