It could have been a trailer for anyone of the seemingly endless Hollywood movies about threats to the life of the American president starring Gerald Butler or Morgan Freeman; Instead, there’s a 35-second hype video Donald Trump’s second presidency.
Before Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday, his team took control of the official White House website. Just after noon ET on Monday, visitors were greeted with a timeline of the White House before an autoplay video took over the entire screen, ensuring that every visitor was clear on who was leading the country now.
After the video ends, it is replaced by a giant picture of Trump pointing away with the words “America is coming back.”
“Every day I will fight for you with every breath in my body,” reads the text on the site. “I will not rest until we deliver the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be America’s golden age.”
Moment archive version of the site As of Sunday, it previously featured a photo of then-President Joe Biden sitting at his desk in the Oval Office, along with the words “Biden Presidency.”
In one of his last acts in office, Biden announced in a press release published on the site that he had preemptively pardoned some family members to avoid being accused of “baseless and politically motivated investigations.” However, the press release has been removed from the site.
Biden pardoned his brother James and his wife Sarah, his sister Valerie and her husband John Owens, and his brother Francis.
When asked about the pardons on Monday, Trump said he wished Biden hadn’t done it, but declined to comment further.
