“I think Trump gives the United States a very good opportunity to revive its animal spirit. There will be less regulation, there will be more energy supply, there will be more of a sense of functioning markets and (less) regulation, and I think Trump is “It’s an injection of stimulus for companies. But I think companies have to find a way to balance other stakeholders, employees and others on issues like DEI, sustainability (and so on),” he said.
On Trump’s inauguration: “I think it’s also a wake-up call for Europe. I think Europe also needs to really focus on the economy and on growth.”
“We need to be more competitive. We need to have more labor productivity. We need to invest more in AI, we need to invest in the Capital Markets Union to, say, improve the flow of capital in Europe. So I think many things that he (Trump) says, to some extent, they also apply to Europe, and Europe should focus on the competitiveness of this region, and that will also help the whole society here,” he added.
When asked if the “merit-based system” touted by Trump and his mission to roll back DEI initiativesIt was a welcome change, van’t Noordende replied: “No, not at all.”
“Some companies are withdrawing some parts of their DEI programs… Most companies I talk to are sailing and staying the course. Why? Because it’s good for business. The American workplace is a very high trust environment. (Our research shows that 85% of people in the United States trust their employers and employers do not want to jeopardize that trust,” he added.
“We have to admit that the Paris Agreement has not met any of the plans, ambitions and objectives that were expected. It is also true that we are looking for other means to achieve the much-needed temperature reduction. I mean that technology needs help. So no, I don’t think this is the big event,” he said.
Regarding Trump’s pick of health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Narasimhan said: “We have a challenge right now because, on the one hand, we have a leader from the HHS (US Department of Health and Human Services) department. ) who outwardly said “Some pretty unscientific statements. And yet, we have to work constructively with this administration to achieve policy changes that are important to our industry and yet continue to defend vaccines, defend science.”
“Our conversations with the administration have been really very positive. Obviously there are areas of disagreement, but I think overall this will be a better environment for us than the last four years,” he added.
CNBC contacted RFK Jr’s campaign group for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
“President Trump’s bold actions today demonstrate that decisive leadership can change the course of history, unlocking economic growth and transforming global challenges into opportunities for dialogue and resolution through problem-solving,” he said.
