Teófimo López says that Gervonta Davis needs ““Let go of your pride” for him to fight against him and other fighters. Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) feels that Gervonta’s ego prevents him from having big fights against him and others in the sport.
Teo sounds like a highly sought-after star that Tank Davis is missing out on because he has been in a career free fall since his loss to George Kambosos Jr. in 2021. Lopez’s career is about to become extinct after his recently signed three-fight contract with Turki Al-Sheikh ends in early 2026.
Teofimo heads to the 147-pound division in October 2025 to face IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. After he probably loses, he will probably stay there to face the loser of the Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia 2 rematch in February 2026.
WBO light welterweight champion Teofomo may be projecting his failures onto Tank (30-0, 28 KOs), because he has ruined his career by saying no to fights against Subriel Matías and avoiding matchups against George Kambosos Jr and Devin Haney.
“You just need to put aside your pride and ego. Just do business, brother,” Teófimo López told Fight Hub TV on whether Gervonta Davis can fight him and other fighters at 140. “If you really want to fight us, this is how we can do it. “We all want to fight among ourselves.”
List of things Tank must fight
Ryan Garcia
Devin Haney
Vasily Lomachenko
Teofimo and Shakur Stevenson are not talented or popular enough to be on Gervonta’s prestigious list of fighters who will have the opportunity to fight him. If Teo didn’t go broke and ruin his career by switching fights, he could fight Tank. Although it’s already too late.
Al-Sheikh’s bet on López
- Richardson Hitchins: IBF and WBO light welterweight unification fight, possible for April.
- Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis: October fight
- Winner or loser of the rematch between Devin Haney and Ryan García. Teofimo will potentially fight one of them in February 2026.
