And just like that and Sex in the city star Kristin Davis is more than familiar with the real roller coaster ride of modern dating.
During the Monday, January 20 episode of her podcast, “Are you Charlotte?Davis, 59, revealed that she once loaned the “out-of-work” actor $5,000 before he promptly bailed on her.
Davis, who portrayed Charlotte York in the hit HBO series Sex in the city before reprising the role for the 2021 reboot, the podcast host said Sarah Wynter — which appeared in SATC pilot—that the man’s reaction to her generous gesture shocked her.
She described how the man was an “out-of-work actor” she was seeing before she started SATCwhich is now “very successful”. Davis loaned him “a whole $5,000” after noticing notices around his house threatening to turn off the electricity. She also learned that he “wrecked his motorbike” so he was unable to attend the auditions.
“He was very talented, but at the time I had money because I was working,” Davis explained. “It changed the dynamic in a terrible way… but I probably should have known better. So I loaned him the money and then, you know, he stopped calling. So I’m like, ‘What the hell is that?'”
Davis added that she ran into the man — which didn’t exactly help her situation.
“I remember going to his apartment and banging on the door,” Davis said on the podcast. “And his dog was there and I loved his dog and I heard his dog. But I was like, ‘Is he there and pretending he’s not there?'”
While no one greeted Davis at the door, she later received a call from a man who asked her if she was the one banging on his door.
“I was like, ‘Well, yeah,'” Davis said. “I felt so embarrassed, like I was a mess. I’d just like some recognition or whatever, which is kind of a fantasy.”
While she didn’t reveal the man’s identity, Davis did offer some details about what he might be up to these days. “She lives in the country with a few kids, so I don’t think I’d want to show up there,” she joked.
Reflecting further on the ordeal, Davis called her decision a “terrible mistake” before urging her listeners to avoid repeating her actions. “Don’t do it,” Davis said. “It doesn’t end well.”
Davis’ Charlotte has famously experienced her own fair share of tumultuous dating scenarios over the course of six seasons SATCbefore it evolved into two seasons AJLT. (The third season AJLT Expected to premiere later this year after being renewed for August 2023, Charlotte remains married to Harry Goldenblatt, who she plays Evan Handler.)
In real life, Davis is single and the mother of two adopted children: a daughter, Gemma Rose, whom she adopted in 2011, and a son, Wilson, who she adopted in 2018.
