The British singer was a famous member of The Police (besides Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland) earlier leaving the band during a concert in August 1983. His debut solo album, Dream of the Blue Turtleswas released in 1985 and has since released 14 solo records.
“I actually don’t think there could be any grown men in the band,” Sting said during the interview in 2022 about his decision to leave the police force. “The band is a teenage gang. Who wants to be in a teen gang when you’re 70? It won’t allow you to evolve.”
He continued: “You have to follow the rules and gestures of the band. Like I love (Rolling) Stones and AC/DCit’s hard to see the growth in their music. For me, the band was just a vehicle for the songs and not the other way around.”
Despite his rather strong feelings about the group, Sting reunited with The Police for a reunion tour in 2007.
