Kirubha Perumalsamy co-founded Rollfi during the cryptocurrency boom in 2021 to help companies process digital payments.
During the cryptocurrency crash, Rollfi pivoted to become an in-house payroll company, partnering with financial services companies to offer payroll and benefits services to their clients.
Pivot was enough of a success that Rollfi was acquired by Priority Tech Ventures for an undisclosed sum. Rollfi had raised $3.25 million before exiting. Speaking to TechCrunch, Perumalsamy said the company was in the middle of fundraising when the sale opportunity came up.
“We realized that if we could combine the focus, speed and passion of a startup with the institutional strength of one of Priorities, we would be more successful in winning this market.”
He said that after the operation, the entire team will remain with PTV and remain an independent entity under Priority.
