a student in Antioch High School in Tennessee says he saw people “get shot on the ground” as he and his classmates ran toward the exits of the building during the fatal attack that unfolded there yesterday.

“We were in the cafeteria having lunch like any other day, and we kept hearing gunshots in the front of the cafeteria and then people were looking around screaming. We ran after the trash cans,” one student said. told WSMV, counting the moment the shots rang out.
“I saw people getting shot on the ground, bleeding,” he added, mentioning how he and his friends ducked and ran toward a side door to flee the cafeteria.
in a separate interview with WZTV, The student said the shooter “was a monster, he just killed people.”
“Everyone spread out, a lot of students were outside and inside. He wasn’t a kid that you would think would do something like that, he stayed focused, he did his work, he was quiet,” another student told WMSV. “So I was really wondering what was going on in his head. I felt like a full conversation could have ended all of that, but not led to that.”
A student from Antioch told WKRN News 2 that she and the alleged gunman “were in ROTC together this year too, and he was always top of the class.”
“I knew him personally. He was in my class and I didn’t think he was anything like that. I just thought he was a sweet, calm person, but he wasn’t,” said another.

Josselin Corea Escalante’s father, identified by WTVF Like Germán Corea, he told the station that “Every day I told her how much I loved her.”

Escalante’s aunt, Maria Corea, also told WTVF that “she was a very calm and well-behaved girl.”
