Bold Search said Thursday that it is adding a new feature called Rerank that will allow users to adjust their search results by giving certain websites an up or down vote.
The feature, which will be available to all users, will appear at the top right of the search results page. When users open the panel, they will be able to “raise” or “drag” a domain by clicking the thumbs up or down icons. Brave will then refine the searches by prioritizing results from upvoted sites and ignoring results from downvoted sites.
Brave said that this AI-powered answers feature will also record these changes made by users and retrieve some search results accordingly while summarizing the responses.
The company claims that the Rerank feature will get people out of the one-size-fits-all approach of search engines.
“Reordering allows users to easily adjust search results to their preferences while remaining in full control. No opaque personalization is done by unknown algorithms because Rerank puts users in charge of the search experience,” Arjaldo Karaj, Brave’s VP of Search, said in a statement.
In 2022, Brave debuted A feature called Goggles filter the results using predefined filters such as “News from the Left”, “News from the Right” and “Tech Blogs”. Over time, developers have built their own glasses that you can make search the market.
Brave says the new Rerank feature supports Goggles, not replaces them, and tries to simplify customization.
Google only allows users to search for results from a specific site by using “Site:xyz.com” in queries. Similarly, Brave’s new option may be useful for people who prefer to refer to certain sites for specific topics.
Brave said its search product currently serves more than 38 million daily queries and more than 1.2 billion monthly queries.
