While the Wednesday, January 22nd episode of the show “Hollywood Raw Podcast with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn“Lemon, 58, said he believes Lauer, 67, could make a successful comeback — potentially on a podcast.
“I think if he could go back to digital, he could set his own course,” he explained, before adding: “But I didn’t get to know Matt until after the whole situation had happened.”
The former CNN anchor said he’s seen Lauer receive positivity from fans firsthand during interactions in public.

“Whenever I see Matt out or, you know, even with us when we go out to dinner, my husband (Tim MaloneI) goes out to dinner with him and his fiancee and people love him. Women love him. They’re like, ‘Man, my God, can I take a picture? i love you I miss you on TV. Right?” he recalled. “And that’s how I think the public loves him. The public misses him, but they’re just afraid… it’s the people inside the business.”
He added: “Maybe there is a way to come back, but I think it’s more people who are inside the business who are interested in what happened with Matt.”

“I think the public… I’ll put it this way. I think the general public would accept – just me – I would accept Matt back. And I think people would watch it and I think the ratings would be great.”
It is not the first time that there have been proposals to return to the industry. He whispers about comeback for Lauer intensified in April 2024 when the source said so My Weekly only that the host was “planning a comeback” years after being fired from NBC amid sexual misconduct allegations.

Lauer has denied all the allegations against him.
