The Oscars 2025 the nominations have been announced and not all of this year’s biggest stars, filmmakers and films have made the cut.
Emilia Perez leads the pack with 13 Oscar nodsincluding Best Picture, Best International Feature Film and Best Director for Jacques Audiard — but one major star was suppressed. While leading the ladies Karla Sofia Gascón and Zoe Saldana received nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role, respectively Selena Gomez was noticeably left out of the latter category.
For 32-year-old Gomez, who received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for her role as Jessi Del Monte, the insult comes as a surprise. She even she took home best actress at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival alongside Gascón, 52, Saldaña, 46, and costar Adriana Paz.
Saldaña in the Best Supporting Actress category are Monika Barbaro for A complete unknown, Ariana Grande for Evil, Felicity Jones for Brutalist and Isabella Rossellini for Conclave.
The 2025 Oscars will celebrate and honor the best films and performances of the year, as well as those affected by the ongoing fires in Los Angeles.
