Riley Gaines, former NCAA swimmer and activist for female athletes, celebrates President Donald Trump toppling the Vaccine for COVID-19 mandate for legal immigrants.

Gaines also shared that his family has spent about $15,000 on fees, applications and attorneys and has had to restart the process several times.

“No one at any federal agency under President Biden could point us in the right direction,” Gaines added. “It took a viral tweet falling on the right ears of the Trump administration for them to fix this essentially overnight.”
He also praised the policy change on X.
“Great news,” Gaines wrote. “Following the following tweet, USCIS has rescinded its Covid vaccine mandate for legal immigrants. I can’t even tell you the thousands of people in the same situation who have reached out over the past few years. Promises made, promises kept. Thank you, @realDonaldTrump. ”
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said in a advertisement Starting Wednesday, they will no longer require the COVID-19 vaccine for legal immigrants, and they will no longer deny citizenship to legal immigrants who do not provide documentation that they received the COVID-19 vaccine.
On October 14, 2021, the Biden administration did so mandatory that all citizenship applicants receive the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of citizenship.
In November, Gaines said her husband, despite moving to the United States from England six years ago, had been unable to obtain a green card because he did not want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
