Hamas is expected to give Israel the names of four hostages that will be released on Saturday by virtue of the high fire agreement in Gaza.
It is believed that they will be soldiers and civilians, all women.
They will be released in exchange for 180 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.
It will be the second exchange since El Alto El Fuego entered last Sunday. In the first exchange three hostages and 90 prisoners were released.
The high fire stopped the war that began when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. Some 1,200 people died and 251 were returned to Gaza as hostages.
More than 47,200 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have died in Israel’s offensive, says the Ministry of Health of Gaza directed by Hamas.
Hamas is also expected to provide information on the remaining 26 hostages that will be released in the next five weeks.
This includes the Bibas family: two parents and two children, one of whom, Kfir, was 10 months when he was captured and is the youngest hostage. It is not clear if this information will include the names or only the number of living or dead hostages.
The prisoners that will be released are of a more serious category than those released in the first exchange. Among them will include those who have killed, some of which serve more than 15 years.
Israel has insisted that no one who has been involved in the attacks on October 7 will be released.
The high fire agreement was achieved after months of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, led by the United States, Qatar and Egypt.
It will be implemented in three stages, and the second stage will begin six weeks after the truce. Some 1,900 Palestinian prisoners will be released during the first stage in exchange for 33 hostages. The Israeli forces will also begin to withdraw from their positions in Gaza and hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians can return to the areas of which they fled or those that were forced.
The high fire intends to permanently end the war in Gaza.
Ninety -one hostage taken on October 7, 2023 are still held in Gaza. Israel assumes that fifty -seven of them are still alive. Three others – two of whom are alive – have retained a decade or more.
