Leslie David Baker he experienced a lot of unforgettable moments while filming Office — including one hilarious example that involved Steve Carell.
“The fire drill (episode) is extremely funny,” Baker, 66, told the exclusive My Weekly on Thursday, January 23 while promoting its partnership with I am writing. “When I had a heart attack, Michael Scott forced me to feed him a brand new leather wallet.
In the Season 5 episode titled “Stress Relief”, Baker’s character Stanley has Dwight (Rainn Wilson) plans a fire to test his co-workers’ emergency response. After learning that they were trapped in a burning building, Stanley breaks down. Michael (played by Carell) then jumps into action in an attempt to save his employee by stuffing his wallet in his mouth and seemingly confusing how to help a stroke with a heart attack.
Looking back on his time on the Emmy-winning comedy, Baker also recalled instances where his character “was harpooned with an arrow” and yelled at BJ NovakRyan’s character for flirting with his fictional daughter and commented that filming was fun.
“When I had to yell at Ryan for allegedly flirting with my daughter, and he got upset about the dialogue, I rattled him,” he recalled. “How any of us managed to keep it together with so many laughs on any given day remains a mystery.”
Baker added that while Office Fans enjoyed watching the show over its nine seasons, the cast had “a lot more fun on set.
In addition to sharing laughs and fond memories, Baker added that the Season 7 episode where Carell, now 62, left the show and the series finale were “definitely tear-jerking.” However, his most treasured moment involved get the whole gang together again.
“My favorite episode was the wedding where Dwight and Angela got married and we all had to get back together,” he said Our. “So it was a great episode. That was fun.”
While portraying Stanley for nearly a decade, Baker explained that he helped “create” the beloved — and often clumsy (except on pretzel day) — character by drawing on his personal experience working in corporate America, which allowed him to feel relatable to fans. .
“I think there’s a bit of Stanley in all of us…I helped put flesh on Stanley’s bones, so I think his reactions and values and appeal are pretty universal,” Baker reflected. “He loves to laugh when something is really funny… and when he thinks it’s not… you’re dead or ignored!”
While fans believe that Stanley has become grumpier and ruder over the course of the show, Baker thinks that these traits have been there all along. Instead, Baker credited the crew for picking up the little ticks that were hit.
“I think we got to see him more and empathize with him as a character … but he probably got more camera time and what was there, was there the whole time?” he said Our. “Situations just happened that were captured by a great cameraman.
From Office packed in 2013, Baker continued to act in various projects, but in his free time he enjoys entertaining his loved ones. With the help of Tastiez, Baker can now pair “great conversation with delicious snacks.”
“My favorite appetizers are usually something crispy, crunchy, tasty, sweet/savory, easy to make, with different flavors and some unusual spices,” he said. “It’s so refreshing to no longer have to rely on the usual old standby snacks like nuts, chips, crackers.”
Popular Baker’s Tastiez treats include Nacho Cheese Triangles, Mini Mozzarella Sticks,
Italian-style risotto, spinach artichokes, mozzarella and garlic curds.
“All these flavors allow me to travel the world from my armchair with a glass of good wine,” he said. “I have always believed that food should bring people together and transport them to other countries through their taste buds. It’s a great and easy way to host a party for one or more people!”
