Whether layovers end up being a short stop or lasting a few hours, they are often part of the trip.
A Reddit user posted a question on the “r/americanairlines” forum, wondering if his grandmother would have “enough time to connect.”
In addition to sharing a screenshot of the flight, the user said that his grandmother would travel from Cedar Rapids, Michigan, to Savannah, Georgia.
“Both flights are primary, which should help, but 55 minutes (between flights) still makes me a little nervous,” the person wrote.

Flying companions He took to the comments section to help provide advice, share experiences, and discuss how long it took for a connection.
“It’ll be hard, but you should be fine,” one person said.
The commentator continued: “she should be fine. Choose a seat near the front if possible; “That will give you a little extra time.”
Usage shared more context about the Savannah airport, adding, “Terminal 3 is very large, so hopefully their gates aren’t too far apart.”
Another individual commented: “There is also a chance that you won’t even have to change planes as both flights are an A319 and the connection time is a normal turnaround time.”

“Probably,” said one.
The poster replied: “The flight leaves early in the morning, so I hope there are no delays on the first flight.”
The user added about the grandmother: “In practice, once you get off the first plane, you will only have 20 to 25 minutes to walk from one door to the other.”

Gary Leff, a Texas resident travel industry The expert and author of the blog “View From the Wing” told Fox News Digital that minimum connection times vary by airport.
“Whether you’re connecting from one airline to another, whether you’re changing terminals, you have to go through securityor getting off an international flight and having to go through immigration and customs,” Leff added; all of these situations are important, he said.

“Some flights on the same airline and within the same terminal will involve shorter connections permitted,” he added.
Leff warned that flights involving immigration and a change of terminal would require at least two hours.

A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) told Fox News Digital that Logan International Airport does not set a timeline for connections.

“Each airline has a minimum connection time, and it may be different for each airline due to connecting baggage requirements, check-in minimums and security minimums,” the spokesperson said.
The individual added: “It can vary, but the average is usually 60 minutes depending on whether it is national or international.”

Greg Chin, director of communications for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, shared that the connection does depend on the airlines and if the the flight is international or domestic.
“At least two hours is a good recommendation,” Chin said.
