JD Vance will visit Virginia on Monday on his first official trip as vice president

EXCLUSIVE – JD Vance is “fulfilling his promise” to the American voters on his first trip as vice president To Damascus, Virginia, Monday to visit the areas affected by Hurricane Helene at the end of September.

It will be Vance’s second trip to Damascus Since the hurricane hit the southeast on September 27, destroying parts of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida and leaving more than 200 people dead.

“Vice President Vance visited Damascus residents in October after the city was devastated by Hurricane Helene,” said a spokesman for the vice president to Fox News Digital. “He promised to return and is now fulfilling his promise. The first week of this administration has made it clear that President Trump and Vice President Vance fulfill his word.”

Vance’s trip occurs a few days after President Donald Trump, Melania Trump and other politicians visited Asheville, Fletcher and Swannanoa, North Carolina, on January 24, marking the second trip of the now president to those areas since September.

Trump spoke in the three cities, but allowed a group of locals who lost everything in Helene to share their own personal stories during their stop in Swannanoa. Some locals have disagree with disaster management by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), saying that it implies too much bureaucracy so that those who need immediate assistance get the help they need, be it housing, money, money or both.

“I will also sign an executive order to begin the fundamental reform process and FEMA review“I think, frankly, Fema is not good.”

Trump also promised that his administration would intervene and help North Carolina repair the damage quickly, promising to “do a good job” for the State.

“We are going to fix it, and we will fix it as fast as possible,” Trump said. “It is a huge amount of damage. FEMA has really disappointed us. He disappointed the country. And I don’t know if that is Biden’s fault or who is the fault, but we will assume control. We are going to do a good job.”
