Jacob Zuma’s daughter will face the positions of South Africa during July 2021 disturbances

The daughter of former South African president Jacob Zuma, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, will be accused of her alleged participation in the 2021 disturbances that left more than 300 dead, says her father’s party, Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK).

Violence, chaos and fear crossed Durban’s port city, then extended to Gauteg, after Zuma’s prison caused intense protests more than four years ago.

Zuma-Sambudla, a controversial figure in its own right, was accused of sharing incendiary publications on social networks that fed civil disturbances.

MK, of which he is a high -level member, said in X that he would appear in a Durban court on Thursday and urged supporters to “mobilize all land forces to attend numbers.”

Although he has not commented directly on the charges, Zuma-Sambudla shared a cryptic note in X that simply said: “We see you.”

This is not the first time that its name is mentioned in relation to the 2021 disturbances, which are considered one of the bloodiest episodes in the South Africa after apartheid.

Zuma resigned as president in 2018 after nine years in office, plagued by accusations of corruption, which according to him were part of a political conspiracy.

Three years later, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison for contempt of the court after refusing to testify to a panel that investigates corruption under his presidency.

The protests broke out after he gave up to comply with his sentence.

During the riots, Zuma-Sambudla was Franco in X, often sharing images of destruction and chaos, accompanied by the legend: “Kzn, we see you.”

She used this phrase often during violence. In a publication now eliminated, she shared a video of someone shooting an automatic rifle in a poster of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

In 2022, a spokesman for the Elite Police Unit, Hawks, Brig Thandi Mbambo, told local media that they were not investigating it directly, but had been appointed in statements from Fuentes.

In response to this, Zuma-Sambudla He said in x“I’m not afraid!

At the same time, The Jacob Zuma FoundationHe said in a statement, the former president’s children were being attacked.

Last year, the South Africa Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) published a report that said that riots were a “carefully orchestrated event.”

But he said he couldn’t find a direct link to Zuma’s arrest.

In 2023, a former security guard was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in mortal disturbances.

He was the first person to be prosecuted for the riots.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, who happened to Jacob Zuma in 2018, described violence as an “attempt to insurrection.”

More than 200 shopping centers were looted and more than 150,000 jobs during the disturbances were lost, which lasted several days.

Last year, Zuma’s MK faced his former match, ANC, in the elections, winning 15% of the votes to become the third largest game in the country.
