Lewis Hamilton is blocked to Ferrari in the preseason test in Barcelona

Lewis Hamilton has crashed his Ferrari during the team’s preseason test program in Spain.

The seven-time champion was unharmed after losing control of the team 2023 of the team in the circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya on Wednesday.

Ferrari declined to comment on the incident, which occurred on Hamilton’s second day to run on the Spanish track, where he shares the car with the teammate Charles Leclerc.

The incident occurred when Ferrari sought to embed Hamilton in the team in the most effective way possible before the start of the season at the Australian Grand Prix on March 14 to 16.

Ferrari considers that the accident is not abnormal since Hamilton learns the characteristics of an unknown car after 12 years with Mercedes, within the significant restrictions imposed in the F1 tests.

Ferrari is running a limited program in the 2023 car, the most recent Hamilton model can drive.

F1 test restrictions dictate that current race pilots can complete a maximum of 1,000 km (621 miles) of what is known as TPC (previous cars tests) in operation.

Hamilton completed 30 laps on the team’s Fioran trial track on January 22 before he and Leclerc move to the three days of this week in Barcelona, home of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Ferrari is not giving details of the test, where Hamilton is learning the procedures and work methods of Ferrari and building an understanding with career engineer Riccardo Adami and the rest of the engineering group.

Ferrari will launch its 2025 car in Fioran on February 19, the day after the launch event of the F1 season in the O2 in London.

Ferrari will give Hamilton more mile tests before launch in a pneumatic test led by Pirelli.

The team will work for two days next week, also in Barcelona, from February 4 to 5 in a modified 2025 car to reflect the effect of the new regulations that are introduced by 2026.

McLaren is carrying out a similar Pirelli test in Paul Ricard in France this week while the Italian company seeks to define its 2026 product.
