Israeli and Thai released rehénes released from Gaza Under Presing

Eight more hosts of Hamas in Gaza have been released in the midst of chaotic scenes as part of the Alto El Fuego agreement with Israel.

Hamas delivered three Israelis and five Thai nationals to the Red Cross before being transferred to Israeli forces and taken to Israel.

Later, a total of 110 Palestinians were released from Israeli prisons, including 32 with life and 30 minors.

Israel delayed his release in response to the way the hostages were treated when they were delivered.

The photos published by the Israeli army showed him that he hugged four other young women from the unit who were released in the previous exchange on Saturday.

In a statement, his family said they could now “start the healing process”, but that “the recovery will not be complete until all hostages return home.”

Approximately two hours later, in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the other seven hostages were taken out in the midst of chaotic scenes.

They were led by armed combatants through multitudes of spectators who cheer, many filming with mobile phones, before being delivered to the Red Cross in vehicles waiting.

It took place symbolically in front of the remains of the house, bombarded by Israel, of the late leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, the architect of the attacks of October 7. Sinwar was killed by Israeli troops in Rafah in October 2024.

“There was a lot of chaos, there were many shoves,” said a journalist who covered the delivery of the BBC. There were songs of the name of Sinwar and for Hamas, he said.

A woman from the crowd said she was “proud of Gaza’s men and Gaza’s resistance.”

In Tel Aviv, people looked anxiously, while holding Israeli flags and photos of the hostages.

In addition to Mrs. Berger, Israeli civilians Arbel Yehud, 29, and Gadi Moses, 80, and Thai agricultural workers Pongsak Theana, Satehian Suwanakham, Watchara Sriaoun, Bannawat Seach and Urasak Lanao were released.

In a sign of the precariousness of Alto El Fuego, Israel stopped the release of the prisoners until it received guarantees that the scenes that accompanied the release of the hostages in Khan Younis would not be repeated.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “shocking scenes” were “additional evidence of inconceivable brutality of Hamas’ terrorist organization.”

The Prime Minster office later said that since then he had received from the mediators “a commitment that a safe exit will be guaranteed for our hostages” that have not yet been released.

The postponement was the last hitch to reach the delicate and complex reciprocal steps to which Israel and Hamas have committed under the terms of the high fire.

Israel delayed for two days allowing hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians to return to northern Gaza after Hamas could not include Arbel Yehud in the previous round of hostages on January 25.

Two hundred fifty -one were taken captive when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people. The attack triggered a war that has devastated Gaza.

Israel’s 15 -month military offensive killed 47,460 Palestinians in the territory, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health led by Hamas.

Before Thursday, 290 Palestinian prisoners, ranging from those who serve long sentences for bombing and other attacks to retained adolescents without charge, were released under the high fire.

Most have returned to occupied Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza, while some 70 of the most serious criminals have been deported.
