Man who burned the Qur’an ‘killed by shots in Sweden’

A man who caused violent protests after burning the Qur’an has been shot dead in Sweden, according to local media reports.

It is reported that Salwan Momika, 38, was killed in a department in Södertälje, Stockholm on Wednesday night.

The riots exploded after Mr. Momika set fire to a copy of the sacred book of Islam outside the Stockholm central mosque in 2023.

Mr. Momika and his partner were accused in relation to the Quran burning, but the verdict, which will be delivered on Thursday, was postponed after it was “confirmed that one of the defendants had died,” said the Stockholm District Court.

Stockholm police told the state station SVT News that a 40 -year -old man was shot in an apartment and then died.
